Plans for Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to attend the United Nations General Assembly in September, despite U.S. sanctions, has prompted calls from officers and industry experts alike for President Biden to deny the delegation any visas.
“The Biden administration has publicly acknowledged that the routine in Tehran is actively plotting to assassinate Us citizens,” Richard Goldberg, previous National Safety Council official and senior advisor at the Foundation for Protection of Democracies, advised Fox News Electronic. “How can they challenge visas to the people in charge of the plot? It would be absolutely consistent with U.S. regulation and treaty obligations to deny Raisi and his delegation visas on countrywide protection grounds.”
