As the two-working day basic strike named by the 10 Central Trade Unions (CTUs) commenced on Monday, the Opposition moved an adjournment movement in the Lok Sabha to examine concerns elevated by the workers, by suspending all other business of the working day. Senior Congress MP TN Prathapan, who moved the movement, explained the standard strike reflects the despair and protest among workers from the policies of the Narendra Modi Govt.

He stated Parliament would examine the fears and demands of the workers. Ten Central Trade and Labour unions are holding a two-day national strike. This strike is one of the greatest nationwide strikes ever witnessed. It reflects the desperation of persons in the region,” Prathapan said.

He included that the strike raises some crucial requires such as scrapping the Labour Codes, scrapping the Important Defence Providers Act, accepting the 6-point constitution of needs of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, and halting privatisation in any variety and the Nationwide Monetisation Pipeline. “They have also demanded social welfare for all staff in the casual and unorganised sectors, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, etc. This nationwide strike shall be an eye-opener to the Govt in the wake of inflation and gasoline price hike,” Prathapan stated.
